General description
Padua score for venous thromboembolism (VTE) assesses the risk of VTE among hospitalized medical patients. It calculates a risk score based on 11 common risk factors for VTE in hospitalized medical patients. Patients are stratified into high-risk (≥4 points) and low-risk groups (<4 points).

Active cancer (+3 points)

Previous VTE (excluding superficial vein thrombosis) (+3 points)

Reduced Mobility (+3 points)

Already known thrombophilic condition (+3 points)

Recent (≤ 1 month) trauma and/or surgery (+2 points)

Elderly Age (≥ 70 years) (+1 point)

Heart and/or respiratory failure (+1 point)

Acute MI and/or Ischemic Stroke (+1 point)

Acute infection and/or rheumatologic disorder (+1 point)

Obesity (BMI ≥ 30) (+1 point)

Ongoing hormonal treatment (+1 point)
