Introduction
The Rutgeerts score was developed to predict postsurgical Crohn’s disease recurrence via ileocolonoscopy in patients having ileocolonic resection. It is used to predict the symptomatic recurrence of Crohn’s disease within 5 years. Higher score correlates with poorer outcomes - 100% 5 year recurrence for patients classified as i4, 63% for i3, 27% for i2 and 6% for i1 and i0.
