General description
The Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) is a standardized classification system developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to describe the severity of adverse events. It provides a common language to report and analyze adverse events (AEs), ensuring consistency and comparability across different studies and treatments.
AEs are categorized by system organ classes. Each AE is graded on a scale from 1 to 5. In general, grade 1 represents a mild AE, grade 2 a moderate AE, grade 3 a severe AE, grade 4 a life-threatening or disabling AE and grade 5 death related to the AE.
The tool enables a user to browse or search through the CTCAE classification using relevant keywords.
